Fashion and Scrappin'

Two hobbies, two passions, but somehow the two worlds have collided and melded into one. The creativity that stems from the blending and mixing of colours flows into an assortment of fabrics and patterned papers. Scrapbooking is so hands on for me. Getting to work with the papers, embellishments and colours to design something that somehow captures the moment in the photo, enhancing it so that the memory of it lingers tangibly, while still creating something that is pleasing to the eye. Fashion is the same thing. Mixing colours and fabrics, interchanging styles and creating a flow that somehow captures the feeling or expression of my daughters.

I definately have a scrapbooking style. I love accentuated, intricate patterns placed on an open space. A flow of white space on a page with curves and lines of patterns hand-cut from patterned papers. Very few colour blocked layouts seem to make it out from my scrapbooking space. What appears are bold snippits of colour popping out from black and white backgrounds. I spend my time cutting each piece until they flow together to draw the eye back to the focal picture. I rarely use stamps and very little paint or stickers. Ink is always at my side, but for distressing and adding dimention more than anything else. I love bold patterns and am not afraid to use those big, page filling sillouettes!

Much in the same way as scrapbooking, I also have a clothing style. And though that, my girls each have a style as well. Oddly enough, even at this age their styles differ. Brielle is a hot-pink, girly, give me a dress and a funky pair of boots type of girl. She loves to twirl and dance but without the frills. Fitted bodice, full fabric twirly skirts draw her in every time. If she's to wear jeans, it's a bootcut with embellishments, a bold top and a cute puffer vest. Jean skirts or little plaid skirts are also easy choices for Brielle. She likes to be noticed, and frilly and worn-looking won't do it for her. Matéya on the other hand is much softer in nature and it blends into her style as well. She chooses cute comfort and soft hues of lilacs and roses are stunning on her. Those big blue eyes just stand out amongst the soft colours and a plain top with some cute jeans are all she needs. Of course, the shoes are what get Matéya everytime. She has a million pairs of shoes and she knows what she likes.

So that's a good summary of my passion for fashion and scrappin. I hope to create some folders to hold pictures of some recent fashion shoots as well as all of my recent layouts.
